Artist Interview
Q: Your work often blends realism with fantasy, featuring animals, birds, and floral elements. What draws you to these themes?
A: I find inspiration in the world around us. I add a touch of my imagination and combine it with realism. As a self-taught artist, I am driven by a deep passion for exploring the beauty and emotion of the natural world. My work often features animals, birds, and floral elements, blending realism with fantasy to create pieces that evoke wonder and connection. I work primarily with oil and acrylic, using vibrant colours and textured brushstrokes to bring my vision to life. Each painting reflects my desire to capture fleeting moments of tranquillity and magic, inviting viewers into a world of imagination and serenity
Q: As a self-taught artist, how did you develop your skills and techniques? Were there any particular practices or experiences that have been especially helpful?
A: I started painting by following YouTube masterclasses and later began creating my own. However, I realized I needed constructive criticism, so I sought guidance from renowned Ukrainian artists. I studied online but received full support from my teachers. Through them, I learned many secrets of the old masters and understood the importance of forging my artistic path. And I am still learning.
Q: You describe your studio as your sanctuary. How does your workspace contribute to your creative process, and do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into the artistic mindset?
A: For anyone who visits my studio, it may seem like chaos, but for me, it is perfect order—I know exactly where everything is. My studio is my comfort zone. Sometimes, I spend the entire day there, simply thinking, watching videos, or admiring the work of other artists. Creating art is not just a job; it is a way of life. Even in my sleep, the creative process continues. I find inspiration everywhere and in everything.
Your art is available on platforms like Society6 and Etsy. What has been your experience with selling art online, and what advice would you offer to other artists looking to do the same?
I have an Etsy shop, but most of my paintings are sold through online galleries like SaatchiArt and Artmajeur. I believe artists shouldn’t be afraid to showcase their work and explore all available selling platforms. If one doesn’t work out, another will surely appreciate your art. Gaining visibility, recognition, and appreciation is a daily effort.
